Update on Course Withdrawal Deadline & Your Academic Success

In fall 2020, the regular and late withdrawal periods are being combined into a single withdrawal period. Rowan recognizes that due to the ongoing challenges that students face due to the COVID-19 pandemic, you may need more time to make a decision about whether you wish to withdraw from a course.  Thus, the Course Withdrawal Deadline is extended until Monday, November 23, 2020.  All withdrawals this term will be assigned a W. Please note that there is no reduction of tuition and fees for withdrawal.

If you are struggling in a course, please seek academic assistance prior to considering a withdrawal to enable you to successfully complete as many credits as you can. Academic support is available in Tutoring, Success Coaching, and through your professors and academic advisor. Please keep in mind that the expanded Pass / No Credit option that was a response to the emergency conditions in spring 2020 is NOT available for fall 2020, so be sure to earn the highest grades that you can and to use Rowan resources to boost your success.

If you decide to withdraw from a course, please submit a Course Withdrawal request as soon as possible, using the email process outlined below.

  1. Copy and paste the information found here into a new email.
  2. Complete all parts of the “Student & Course Information” section.
  3. Send the email to the PROFESSOR of the course.

Professors will then complete the remaining steps:

  1. Provide the “Professor Information & Acknowledgement” details.
  2. Forward the completed email to registrar@rowan.edu for processing.

You will receive an email when your request is processed.

All course withdrawals require the professor’s acknowledgement and the date of the student’s last attendance/log-in (the professor should provide this date, not the student). A withdrawal results in a “W” grade on the transcript, but the W does not affect GPA. Students are still financially responsible for withdrawn courses.

Students, faculty, or staff should contact the Office of the University Registrar (registrar@rowan.edu) with any questions related to this amended process.

*All registration-related dates can be found here: https://sites.rowan.edu/registrar/_docs/f20registration-relateddates.pdf.

Rowan cares about your academic success and progress.  Please take advantage of the many resources available to help you succeed.
